The Black Morris Minor—GOAL!! One of the first cars Pedro bought was a Black Morris Minor similar to the one in the photo above. He learnt about the engine and how to service the car and change the oil and it became a hobby of his. He would often be in blue overalls on his day off messing around with the car. He would fit our football team in the car and take us to matches when I was a boy, (days before seat belts and child seats!) Pedro was a huge Barcelona FC fan. Before the days of satellite TV the only place he could find out about the team was through Spanish Newspapers sent to him by his brothers or by listening to Spanish radio. For some crazy reason the best radio reception was on the car radio, and Pedro would often sit in the black Morris Minor Car in the Garage on a Sunday evening listening to the game from Spain. There would often be a huge shout of GOAL!!!! Coming from the garage, I sure the neighbours thought he was mad!! Pedro was one of the first people in the village to have a satellite so he could watch the games on TV VISCA BARCA!!
